At 8,611m, K2 is the second highest peak on Earth. Known locally by the name of Chogo Ri, which means "The Great Mountain", K2 is located on the Pakistan - China border in the mighty Karakoram range. 
Some references state that Taklamakan means "if you go in, you won't come out" while others state that it means "Desert of Death" or "Place of no return."
